Paws & Stay: Our Pet Policy

At Damara Hotel at Ciudad Elmina, we understand that pets are part of the family and we are pleased to welcome them. To ensure the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all guests — both with and without pets — we kindly ask that you adhere to the following Pet Policy during your stay.

1. Eligible Pets

    • Only domesticated dogs and cats are permitted.

    • A maximum of 2 pets per room is allowed.

    • Each pet must weigh no more than 25 kg (55 lbs). Larger pets may be accommodated only with prior written approval from hotel management.

    • All pets must be at least 6 months old and fully house-trained.

    • Exotic animals, aggressive breeds, or wild animals are not permitted.

2. Pet Fees & Deposits

    • A non-refundable cleaning fee of ₱350 per pet, per night applies.
    • An additional refundable security deposit may be required at check-in to cover potential damages. The deposit will be refunded after check-out if no damage is found.

    • Any damage, excessive cleaning needs, or pest control services resulting from a pet’s stay will be charged to the guest’s account.

3. Pet Behavior & Supervision

    • Pets must be under control at all times and never left unattended in the room unless they are properly crated and the front desk has been informed.

    • Pets are not permitted to roam freely in guest rooms or public areas.

    • Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier whenever outside the guest room.

    • Guests are responsible for ensuring their pet does not disturb other guests with noise (such as barking, whining, or scratching). Repeated disturbances may result in the guest being asked to remove the pet from the property.

    • Any aggressive behavior toward guests, staff, or other pets will not be tolerated.

4. Restricted Areas

For hygiene and safety reasons, pets are not allowed in the following areas:

    • Restaurants, bars, and dining areas

    • Fitness center, swimming pool, spa, and wellness facilities

    • Meeting rooms and event spaces

5. Cleanliness & Waste Disposal

    • Guests must clean up after their pets, both inside the room and in all outdoor areas.

    • Guests are responsible for bringing their own waste disposal bags to clean up after their pets. Designated waste bins are provided throughout the property for proper disposal of pet waste.

    • Rooms with evidence of pets relieving themselves indoors may incur additional cleaning or odor-removal charges.

6. Health & Safety

    • Pets must be free of parasites (fleas, ticks, etc.), clean, and up to date on all vaccinations.

    • Proof of current vaccinations (including rabies) may be requested at check-in.

    • Guests must promptly report any incidents involving their pet to hotel staff.

7. Liability & Indemnification

    • Guests accept full responsibility and liability for their pet’s behavior and any injury or damage caused by their pet to property, other guests, staff, or other animals.

    • Damara Hotel at Ciudad Elmina, its owners, and staff shall not be held responsible for the injury, illness, or loss of any pet during the stay.

8. Right to Decline or Remove

    • The hotel reserves the right to refuse accommodation or request immediate removal of any pet that appears ill, dangerous, disruptive, or fails to comply with this Pet Policy.

    • If a guest is unable or unwilling to comply, they may be asked to leave the property without refund.
